On the superior border of adult spleen generally notches or clefts are seen which are remnants of the grooves that separate the fetal lobules. These are usually located on the medial part of spleen. In some cases, it may persist till later age and is a normal variant. There are lobulations seen in fetal spleen which however normally would disappear before birth.
